Smugglers Trails and Tracks Pyrenees Adventure Tour
We have secured permits to drive the various trails and tracks around the Catalan border with Andorra, a legal requirement for organised tours. Failure to secure permits and drive these tracks for organized tour groups can result in fines up to 1,000 Euros per vehicle.
Cost for this tour is £1,800.00 based on two people sharing resort accommodation. Some bungalows can accommodate up to 4 people, please contact us for additional passenger costs.
A deposit of £300.00 is required is required upon booking to secure your place. The balance of £1,500.00 is due on or before 12th August 2024. This is based on two people sharing resort accommodation. We are happy for regular payments to be made to spread the cost of this holiday. Please contact us to arrange. Unfortunately, we are unable for provide a discount for single occupancy bungalows. Cancellations are in line with our terms and conditions and good will policy.
Based in the Principality of Andorra. During the 1700’s smugglers of the area found it is easy to dip in and out of Andorra’s neutral borders; crossing to and from Spain and France during the Napoleonic wars, transporting illegal goods between the two belligerent countries. A legacy of the smugglers trade is the network of trails and tracks suitable for 4×4, 2 wheels and two feet of course.
Please note we have not included channel crossing or overnight costs for travel to/from Andorra into the cost of this tour. This allows guests to choose their own method and pace of travel. We are more than happy to meet with guests at Dover or Folkstone early on the Saturday morning; we will travel through France with an overnight stop just outside of Brive-la-Gaillarde. Before continuing our outward journey to Andorra where we arrive on the Sunday afternoon.
Accommodation for the next 6 nights will be in well appointed ‘bungalow’ style lodgings on a self-catering basis, do not worry though as there is a restaurant onsite. The packed itinerary for the next five days will see our group retracing smugglers routes across Europe’s sixth smallest nation with an area of only 181 square miles and a population of approximately 77,000. Nestled in the Pyrenees mountain range reaching heights of over 3,000 meters. Please contact us for accommodation / resort details.
Excursions include: (although subject to change)
Sunday: Mid-afternoon arrival at Resort Xixerella Park.
Monday: Short day tour to Pic de Negre & VW Transporter.
Tuesday: Full day tour including smugglers trails and tracks in and out of Andorra to the west and south.
Wednesday: Free day or join us for a sightseeing visit to Roc de Quer and the Tibetan Bridge at Canillo, Time to visit the capital Andorra la Vella.
Thursday: Full day tour exploring the southern part of Andorra’s smuggler routes and the Spanish Pyrenees.
Friday: Late morning tour trek over the mountains to the village of Tor for coffee and cake.
Saturday: Morning departure. You are more than welcome to join us as we retrace our tyre tracks north through France for an overnight stop south of Paris.

What is not included:
• Channel crossing
• Road Tolls (approx. £80 each way)
• Fuel Costs (expect to cover 1,450 miles round trip Calais / Andorra and approx. 300 miles of off-road driving +/-)
• Accommodation outward and return from Andorra
• Food and Drink
The tour includes accommodation in Andorra as stated above and the above itinerary with support from experienced tour guides throughout your stay. We anticipate the trails and tracks will be in good condition and similar to that of out Relaxed and Scenic brand of tours. However we will constantly assess each excursion based on the vehicle capability and driver experience within our group.
We recommend that your vehicle has full breakdown cover and repatriation to the UK. Please ensure that your vehicle insurance will cover you for driving in France, Spain and Andorra
We must insist that your vehicle is in ‘tip top condition’ for this tour. We appreciate that breakdowns do happen however your time is precious; we want to make sure you get the most from this adventure. As always we will do our utmost best to get you recovered to a safe place.
We would also recommend a CB Radio. We do have a limited number that we can loan out. These will be available on a first come first served basis. Please let me know at the time of booking in the comments box at the bottom of the booking form, if you would like to borrow a CB radio.
Please ensure your Passport is valid, in date and has an expiry date at least 6 months before our return date.
